Upgrade your Bronco's suspension performance, ride height and front-end geometry with the ICON Vehicle Dynamics Stage 2 Suspension System, part #K40012.

Designed specifically for the 2021-2026 Ford Bronco equipped with the HOSS 2.0 suspension package, this Stage 2 system combines a complete set of ICON 2.5 EXP Series internal-reservoir shocks with ICON's premium billet aluminum upper control arms featuring Delta Joint Pro.

The EXP Series shocks reuse the Bronco's factory coil springs and upper spring hardware while providing increased shock performance, improved heat dissipation and selectable ride height. Multiple snap-ring grooves machined into the shock bodies provide 0-2 inches of front lift and 0-1.75 inches of rear lift over stock.

Stage 2 adds ICON's billet aluminum upper control arms, providing increased strength, improved suspension geometry and on-vehicle caster and camber adjustment. The UCAs feature ICON's patented Delta Joint Pro, which provides up to 90 degrees of total articulation.

What Does Stage 2 Add Over Stage 1?

The primary upgrade from ICON K40011 Stage 1 to K40012 Stage 2 is the addition of ICON's premium billet upper control arms.

Stage 1 includes:

  • Two ICON 48602 front EXP shocks

  • Two ICON 48612 rear EXP shocks

  • Factory Bronco coil springs retained

  • 0-2" adjustable front lift

  • 0-1.75" adjustable rear lift

Stage 2 adds:

  • ICON 48500DJ Billet Upper Control Arm Kit

  • Delta Joint Pro

  • Up to 90 degrees of total articulation

  • On-vehicle caster adjustment

  • On-vehicle camber adjustment

  • Improved alignment capability at increased ride height

  • Increased UCA strength and durability

The Stage 2 system is especially appropriate when using the higher EXP ride-height settings where corrected suspension geometry becomes increasingly important.

Adjustable Ride Height

ICON's EXP Series shocks use a series of snap-ring grooves machined into the shock bodies to provide selectable ride-height adjustment.

For HOSS 2.0 Broncos, ICON specifies:

Front Lift Range: 0-2"
Rear Lift Range: 0-1.75"

The spring seat is positioned in the appropriate snap-ring groove to establish the desired ride height.

Because the EXP system retains the Bronco's factory coil springs, it provides additional ride height without requiring replacement springs.

ICON notes that advertised lift heights are based on a stock-equipped vehicle. Added weight from aftermarket bumpers, winches, skid plates and other accessories can affect actual ride height.

ICON 2.5 EXP Series Shocks

The K40012 system includes four ICON 2.5 EXP Series internal-reservoir shocks.

EXP Series is based on ICON's proven 2.5 Aluminum Series shock architecture and uses a one-piece, impact-extruded aluminum shock body.

Key features include:

  • 2.5-inch shock bodies

  • Internal reservoir design

  • Increased piston size

  • Increased shock oil volume

  • Improved heat dissipation

  • One-piece digressive piston design

  • Vehicle-specific valving

  • Hard-anodized aluminum cylinders

  • 7/8-inch induction-hardened, chrome-plated shock shafts

  • CNC-machined 6061 aluminum components

  • PTFE-lined spherical bearings

  • Fully rebuildable

  • Fully re-tunable

The increased piston size and oil capacity provide improved heat management compared with the Bronco's smaller factory steel-bodied shocks, helping maintain more consistent damping during prolonged rough-terrain use.

Factory Coil Spring Retention

The ICON EXP shocks are specifically designed to reuse the Bronco's factory coil springs and coil hardware.

This allows Bronco owners to retain the factory spring rates while upgrading to a premium 2.5-inch performance shock.

Benefits include:

  • Retains factory coil springs

  • Retains factory coil hardware

  • Lower cost than a complete replacement coilover system

  • Selectable ride height

  • Increased shock performance

  • Improved heat management

  • Fully serviceable shock construction

ICON Billet Upper Control Arms

A major component of K40012 is the ICON 48500DJ Billet Upper Control Arm Kit.

These premium upper control arms provide increased strength and durability while improving front suspension geometry at increased ride heights.

Key benefits include:

  • Premium billet aluminum construction

  • Increased strength and durability

  • Improved suspension geometry

  • Increased suspension articulation

  • On-vehicle caster adjustment

  • On-vehicle camber adjustment

  • Helps achieve optimum front-end alignment

  • ICON Delta Joint Pro

Unlike fixed-geometry upper control arms, ICON's billet UCAs provide additional adjustment that can be performed while installed on the vehicle.

ICON Delta Joint Pro

The K40012 billet upper control arms feature ICON's patented Delta Joint Pro.

Delta Joint Pro is engineered to provide the high-angle movement needed for increased suspension travel while maintaining the durability and environmental protection desirable for a street-driven Bronco.

ICON specifies up to:

90 Degrees of Total Articulation

This increased range of motion complements the additional travel available from the ICON EXP suspension.

Vehicle-Specific Shock Tuning

ICON tunes the EXP shocks specifically for the Ford Bronco in conjunction with its factory coil springs.

The shocks utilize a one-piece digressive piston design engineered to provide improved damping and vehicle control while maintaining comfortable on-road ride quality.

The system is designed for use ranging from:

  • Daily street driving

  • Highway driving

  • Trail use

  • Overlanding

  • Washboard roads

  • Rough terrain

  • Higher-speed off-road driving

35" Tire Fitment

ICON recommends 35" x 12.50" tires for both Sasquatch and non-Sasquatch applications when using the appropriate wheel specifications.

Non-Sasquatch Broncos

ICON recommends the ICON 42000 High Clearance Crash Bar Kit when running 35" tires.

Sasquatch Broncos

35" x 12.50" tires are also the recommended aftermarket tire size.

37" Tire Fitment

ICON notes that 37-inch tire packages require additional modifications.

When running 37" tires:

  • Use ICON 611082 front coilover bump stop spacer kit

  • Fender trimming and other modifications may be required

  • Crash bar removal may be required

ICON specifically states that although crash bar removal may be necessary with some 37" configurations, crash bar removal is not recommended.

Wheel Recommendations

ICON lists the following aftermarket wheel specifications:

17" Wheels

  • 17x8.5"

  • 4.75" backspacing

  • 0mm offset

18" Wheels

  • 18x9"

  • 5.00" backspacing

  • 0mm offset

20" Wheels

  • 20x9"

  • 5.00" backspacing

  • 0mm offset

Recommended Tire Size:
35" x 12.50"

IMPORTANT: ICON currently lists OEM wheel and tire fitment as NO for K40012. Customers should verify wheel clearance before installation.

ADAS Recalibration Required

ICON specifies that installation of the K40012 suspension system requires recalibration of the Bronco's Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Changing vehicle ride height can affect cameras, sensors and driver-assistance systems.

ADAS recalibration should therefore be included as part of the installation process.

Fully Rebuildable & Re-Tunable

ICON EXP shocks are fully rebuildable and re-tunable.

Qualified shock technicians can service the shocks and alter their valving if desired, with service components available from ICON.

This provides a significant long-term advantage over non-serviceable replacement shocks.

Bolt-On Installation

The ICON K40012 Stage 2 Suspension System is designed as a 100% bolt-on suspension upgrade.

No cutting or welding is required for suspension installation.

A professional wheel alignment should be performed after installation and final ride-height adjustment.

Because the billet upper control arms provide on-vehicle caster and camber adjustment, the front suspension can be properly dialed in during alignment.

ADAS recalibration is required after installation.
